My name is Jerry Vuncannon, Jr. and I’m a professional counselor by training, currently based in Fayetteville, NC. I also serve as adjunct faculty in two counseling programs in the United States and serve as a guest lecturer in a pastoral counseling program in Malaysia. While pursuing both a masters and doctoral degree, I experienced a paradigm shift regarding counseling and ministry which changed from a “local” vision to one that included counseling on the international scene. During and since that time I have served in various counseling-related capacities in Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, and Cambodia. Within the scope of both local and international collaborative experiences, I have learned and continue to learn the importance of working within an individual’s cultural framework which is altogether scriptural and very effective not only from a counseling perspective but also from the Great Commission perspective. I have come to enjoy working internationally so much that in a sense this work has become my heartbeat. This is important “missions” work especially as counseling continues to grow around the world.
