I am John Warlow, 53, married to Jill (in general practice) with five children, four sons (23, 20, 18 and 15) and one daughter (10 -- she came at last!) I was born in India in a missionary family. I lived there for 10 years before moving to England. After finishing my schooling, I completed my medical degree in Birmingham. While spending a year in Theological training, I met my Kiwi wife. I moved to New Zealand (Christchurch) and specialized in Psychiatry. I completed my Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Melbourne & then Brisbane, Australia, where I have been living since 1990
Over the years, I have worshipped with the Open Brethren, Wesleyans, Anglicans, Baptists, and an currently in a Pentecostal church. I seek to be a follower of Jesus, with a goal of living the great commandment. I have a passion to see and facilitate the development of mental health professionals, who are Christians, becoming more integrated in their practice as well as to be involved in assisting the church to grow more to be the relevant body of Christ.
I have been practicing as an Adult, Child and Family Psychiatrist, since 1990. For ten years I directed the training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, in Queensland. My work has involved clinical practice (with a broad range of issues), training, supervision, and mentoring. Since around 1989, I have been developing the Christian Wholeness Framework (CWF) for understanding and helping people. This has been used in the context of counselling and coaching in a flexible way across a range of situations and cultures. The CWF facilitates networking between the church, people helpers and professionals. It focuses on helping people to live the great commandment, so they are more able to do the great commission. Since mid-2006, I have been consulting with an indigenous Christian counselling centre in China. This centre has been integrating the CWF in its professional counselling, as well as in its consulting with people helpers and church pastor's. The CWF will shortly be available on the Web for the everyday person and for people helpers (public domain) as well as providing online training for professionals (by subscription).
